General Podiatry

Regular nail and skin care can prevent more serious complications down the track.

We offer comprehensive services that deal with all aspects of foot care. In chronically problematic nails, minor nail surgery might be appropriate.

Cracked heels, long nails, hard skin, warts and corns are just some of the areas that can be covered in a skin and nail consultation.

If you book a "general podiatry" appointment, you can address any concerns you might have with anything affecting the skin of the lower leg or the nail condition.

Skin and nail treatments are an incredibly important service for a wide range of the community. We can help people struggling to reach or cut their toenails properly, with calluses/corns/warts, with ingrown toe nails, thickened/deformed toenails, fungal toe nail infections or those wanting to tidy up their feet (cosmetic podiatry).

FAQs

  • Is it okay to make an appointment to just have my nails cut?

Yes, of course. We will take the time to check your feet and give any advice that we think is appropriate regarding your general foot care. The value of preventative foot care should not be underestimated!

  • Why has my nail changed shape

The nails will change over time. Injuries, pressure on the nails (shoeware), changes to general health and infections in the nail can lead to changes in their long term growth. We can help to manage these issues and get your feet to their best shape.

  • I have an ongoing problem with an ingrown toe nail. Is there a long term treatment option?

Yes, minor surgical intervention is often recommended in cases of chronic ingrown toe nails. This is done under local anaesthetic and involves only relatively minor discomfort.

  • Do podiatrists hurt?

We can’t speak for others but we do our best not to! We strive to be minimally invasive and cause as little discomfort as possible. Usually for things that are painful, such as removal of an ingrown toe nail, we will give a local anaesthetic prior.
